From the perspective of the technical part, TN+Film are easiest way to achieve the wide viewing angle. It can use the mature TFT-twisted nematic，and add a special film that can improve the horizontal view angle from 90 degrees to 140 degrees. But, low contrast and response still cannot be improved.
IPS(In-Plane Switching or Super-TFT)
IPS and TN+Film’s biggest difference are liquid crystal’s direction is parallel to glass plate. The IPS or Super TFT technology can make the view angle broaden to 170 degrees, just as well as monitor’s view angle. But there are also some disadvantages, as crystal can aim at direction and make its electrode can part in only one glass instead of TN type. These electrodes must be made as the comb type under the surface. But it will result the low contrast, and must increase backlight brightness. So IPS type’s contrast and response time still remain as traditional TFT-TN.
MVA(Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment)
MVA type, when its crystal long axis is power on, it is not parallel to the screen but perpendicular to screen, and each pixel are consist of many kinds of perpendicular crystal axis. If the pressure compress on crystal, the crystal axis will move to different direction. So it can be made up for different angle, and improve the viewing angle. MVA can be provided for TN+Film and IPS short response time. In contrast side, it is also better.
